Wow! Look what Karl Kapp wrote on his blog the same day I posted Bernadette's presentation:

http://karlkapp.blogspot.com/2008/06/alternatives-to-second-life.html

We were on the same wavelength. But, everyone in the learning field seems to be talking about virtual worlds nowadays.

I can't wait to check out the companies that Karl listed in his post!

Hello, John!

Welcome, and thank you so much for your Comment. Yes, I agree with you, and you were very clear regarding your focus on Cammy's situation. As I mentioned under "My Personal Challenge", I support academia 100% having taught in that venue myself. In fact, when those semi-retirement years come my way one day, I want to return to the academic classroom (versus the corporate classroom) on a part-time basis. To do so, I will first make sure I obtain my M.A. in EduTech, first. :-)

From your blog, I can tell that you are a dedicated and wonderful professor. Your students (and the faculty) are so fortunate to have you! And, I'm glad that your university community has showered you with recognition.

Again, thank you for coming by, and I'm truly honored that you'd like to participate in the conversation! :-)

It will be a journey!

Jenise,
Best of luck to you. I'm glad you found our conversation helpful. But remember, if you read what I wrote carefully, I don't advocate it (getting the ISD education w/o going to school) for everyone. I mention that I knew Cammy would be OK w/o it. Don't give up on the possibility of going back for your master's. ANYONE would be better off and better prepared with the academic training.

I look forward to reading your posts and participating in your conversation--
